Everyone in our community knows that Lynwood Senior High School is a fantastic school, and the staff and students have achieved some outstanding results, like being named 2018 Secondary School of the Year.

It’s especially impressive that the staff and students at Lynwood achieved this with tired and run down facilities, after the Barnett Liberal Government neglected Lynwood for eight years.

The Liberal Party has always short-changed Lynwood S.H.S, so as your local member I’m working to ensure Lynwood gets the funding it deserves.

Since I became a Minister in the McGowan Labor Government in 2017, we have delivered some significant wins for Lynwood S.H.S. As part of our Maintenance Blitz, we announced $2 million for high priority maintenance works at Lynwood, including extensive upgrades to the Design and Technology facilities.

But there is still work to do to make up for eight years of neglect by the Liberal Party.

So, as part of our $5.5 billion WA Recovery Plan, the McGowan Labor Government is delivering $18.3 million to upgrade to Lynwood Senior High School, including:

  • $6 million for a new classroom block.
  • $6 million for a new performing arts centre.
  • $5 million for a new sports hall.
  • Refurbishments of older specialist classrooms and the school cafeteria.

This is a landmark investment in our community that will give our kids the modern and inspiring facilities they deserve.
